🩺 On Today’s Exam Table: PlantFusion Clear Plant Protein – Tropical Punch

Sometimes a vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry protein shake just doesn’t sound appealing. On warmer days—or when my stomach wants something lighter—I look for clear, refreshing protein options that still help me meet my nutritional needs.

After a little internet research, PlantFusion Clear Plant Protein landed on my list. I purchased it through Amazon for convenience, shipping speed, and price comparison.

💙 H = Health (Nutrition, Ingredients & MyPlate Teaching)

This product is labeled:

  • ✅ Vegan

  • ✅ Gluten-free

  • ✅ Dairy-free

  • ✅ Non-GMO

Nutrition per serving (2 scoops):

  • Calories: 90

  • Fat: 2g

  • Carbohydrates: 1g

  • Protein: 20g

  • Small amounts of calcium and potassium

The ingredient list is short, which I appreciate: Here are the first 3

  • Clear pea protein isolate

  • Natural flavors

  • Citric acid

  • Sweetened with stevia

It also clearly states it contains no dairy, eggs, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish, preservatives, or artificial colors/flavors — something allergy families always want to see spelled out.

MyPlate Teaching 🥗

Protein powders can help supplement nutrition, but they should not replace whole foods. Our bodies still need:

  • Fruits & vegetables (vitamins, minerals, fiber)

  • Whole grains (energy)

  • Healthy fats

That’s why I often combine this protein with fruit to increase overall nutritional value.

🍽️ E = Eating (Taste, Texture & How I Use It)

Prepared as Directed

The instructions recommend mixing 2 scoops with 14–16 oz of water, shaking well, and letting it sit for 30 seconds.

I used my trusty Ninja single-serve blender with 14 oz of water.

  • Initial appearance: slightly foamy on top

  • After sitting a few minutes: foam settled and the color shifted to a light yellow (closer to the package image)

Taste & Texture

  • Lighter than milk-based protein shakes

  • Not as thin as lemonade

  • Light sweetness (pleasant, not overpowering)

  • Flavor profile: citrusy, with hints of lemon and pineapple

👉 Rhythm Rating: 💗 Sinus Rhythm — solid and enjoyable

Smoothie Experiment 🧪

I also tested this protein in my daily fruit smoothie.

What I used:

  • Frozen organic four-berry blend (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries)

  • ~14 oz water

  • 2 scoops PlantFusion Clear Protein

The result:

  • Thicker than my usual fruit-only smoothie

  • Smooth, no chunks

  • Drinkable through a reusable straw

  • The citrus flavor still came through but paired nicely with the berries

👉 Rhythm Rating: 💗 Sinus Rhythm
I loved the added protein without needing dairy or heavy textures.

🛍️ A = Accessibility

  • Purchased via Amazon

  • Price: $63.98

  • Size: 17 oz bag

  • Servings: 15

Is it expensive? Yes.
Did I still want to try it? Also yes.

One important note: the bag arrived sealed but very beat up. The zipper closure inside was partially broken, which made resealing difficult. While the product itself was fine and within expiration, packaging integrity matters — especially for supplements.

💓 R = Rhythm Rating

  • Protein + fruit smoothie: 💗 Sinus Rhythm

Solid option, especially when you want protein without a creamy shake.
