🩺 Vital Signs of Dining Review📍 Today’s Visit: Swedish Girl Bakery, 38 63rd St, Willowbrook, IL 60527
💓 Pulse
This cute little gluten-free bakery is tucked into a strip mall not far from home. I was greeted right away at the register. Bonus points: everything here is 100% gluten-free, which makes me feel both safe and excited. Dairy-free items were marked with a DF tag, which was helpful.
🌬️ Respirations
When I asked about dairy-free, I was told the tags would guide me—but unlike at RegCakes, I didn’t get much hands-on help. My husband actually spotted the items for me. I didn’t know what anything cost until checkout.
🌡️ Temperature
I picked up a mix of goodies to test:
Fudge Brownie ($6.95): Rich, fudgy, very chocolatey—just how I like it.
Mini Carrot Cake ($8): Beautifully decorated, icing was spot-on, spice cake delicious. But… it had raisins (not listed anywhere) and I’m not a raisin fan. My husband happily finished it.
Salty Girl Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3): Crunchy inside and out, not gooey, but tasty with that perfect salty touch.
Apple Pie Bar ($6): Bought mostly for my husband. He enjoyed it, and he’d get it again.
💉 Blood Pressure
The gluten-free safety here was reassuring. I appreciated the clear dairy-free labeling. The bakery looked clean and well-kept, which gave me confidence in what I was eating.
🩺 Diagnosis (Sinus Rhythm- I will try again)
Total bill: $24.37. Overall, I enjoyed my visit—especially that brownie! I’ll probably come back to try more, though I’d love to see better customer service and clear pricing. And while raisins may belong in carrot cake for some, they’re not for me.
