⭐ HEART EXAM REVIEW: Banza Chocolate Chip Protein Waffles

H = Health 🩺

Nutrition:
Two waffles give you 200 calories, 9g fat (1.5g saturated), 23g carbohydrates (5g fiber), and 9g protein. There’s also a sprinkle of calcium, a respectable amount of iron, and some potassium.

Ingredients:
First three ingredients: chickpeas, water, avocado oil — love a legume-forward breakfast for extra fiber + plant protein. These waffles are certified gluten-free and use simple, allergy-conscious ingredients.

MyPlate Teaching:
A serving of these waffles checks part of your whole grains/alternatives box and gives a boost of plant-based protein from chickpeas. To make this a balanced MyPlate-style breakfast, I’d pair it with:

  • A fruit (strawberries, berries, banana slices) 🍓

  • A protein boost (nut/seed butter or scrambled eggs if you can tolerate them)

  • A calcium source (fortified plant milk like almond or oat milk)

E = Eating 😋

Taste:
Without syrup → crisp outside, soft inside, mild chocolate flavor.
With syrup → significantly better; sweetness lifts the cocoa notes and makes the waffle more dessert-for-breakfast energy in the best way.

Texture:
Crispy edges, tender interior — especially good toasted in a toaster oven.

How I Used It:
Toasted + topped with syrup. Would also be great with almond butter, banana slices, or dairy-free chocolate chips for extra fun.

A = Accessibility 🛒

I bought these at Whole Foods Market, 1300 East 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240 for $6.79 for a box of 6 waffles.

Important Note:
I was in Indianapolis supporting a friend and needed safe, gluten- and dairy-free foods quickly. Whole Foods has a large collection of allergy-friendly items in one spot.
There may be more affordable stores, but this wasn’t a frugal shopping trip — it was an efficiency-and-safety shopping trip.

Prices may vary by region.

R = Rhythm Rating ❤️💛💙🤍

  • With syrup → Sinus Rhythm (💛 solid and reliable!)

  • Without syrup → Bradycardia (💙 meh)

T = Tell Others & Tips 💡

I would recommend these for families who need:

  • Higher-fiber, higher-protein waffles

  • A simple, certified-GF breakfast

  • A kid-friendly chocolate waffle option without a ton of added sugars

Tip: Always toast these instead of microwaving — chickpea flour can get soft if not crisped. Pair with fruit + protein to build a more complete MyPlate meal.

Live safe, happy, healthy 💛
