🎄 HEART EXAM: Moo Free Advent Calendars (Milk Choccy + White Choccy)

Today on the exam table we have a holiday twofer! My husband surprised me with two Moo Free Advent calendars — one Milk Choccy and one White Choccy — both gluten and dairy free.

They’re made in the UK, imported from Ireland, and yes… ordered from Amazon because he knows the way to my heart is through safe chocolate and thoughtful gestures.

Let’s dive in.

❤️ H = Health

Nutrition • Ingredients • MyPlate Teaching

1️⃣ Milk Choccy Advent Calendar

  • First Ingredients: sugar, cocoa mass, shea oil

  • Free From: dairy, gluten, soy

  • Dietary Labels: vegan, vegetarian

  • Storage: cool, dry place

  • Sustainability: recycled plastic tray

💡 Nurse Note: Cocoa mass provides flavonoids — plant compounds with antioxidant benefits. While this isn’t a “nutrient-dense” snack, it does fit into the MyPlate “Treats” category (yes, that’s a real place in life!) where we focus on joy, mindfulness, and balance.

2️⃣ White Choccy Advent Calendar

  • First Ingredients: sugar, rice flour, cocoa butter

  • Free From: dairy, gluten, soy

  • Dietary Labels: vegan, vegetarian

  • Imported By: Ireland, Australia, New Zealand

  • Sustainability: recycled plastic tray

💡 Nurse Note: White chocolate alternatives are usually higher in sugar and lower in cocoa compounds — meaning more fun food than functional nutrition. And that’s okay! Mental health and food joy matter too.

🍴 E = Eating

Taste • Texture • How I Use It

I tested several days' worth of chocolates before writing this review — just to make sure there were “no issues with my tissues.”

White Choccy:

  • Small, melt-in-your-mouth one-biters

  • Sweet (yes please), smooth, and unmistakably “white chocolate”

  • Honestly? I wanted to eat the whole calendar in one sitting

Milk Choccy:

  • Does taste like chocolate — not dark, not quite milk, but definitely delightful

  • Smooth and mild

  • A happy little daily surprise

And yes… the photography isn’t perfect. I’m a PNP, not Annie Leibovitz. I added a quarter for size because #science.

🛒 A = Accessibility

These aren’t your $2 Walgreens calendars — and that’s okay.

  • White Choccy: ~$10–$15 depending on Amazon price swings

  • Milk Choccy: ~$36 for a 2-pack

Accessibility Take: For people with allergies, sometimes accessibility looks like: finding something that’s safe, shipped to your door, and makes you feel included.

And this absolutely checked that box for me.

💓 R = Rhythm Rating

💗 Tachycardia!
Not because of protein, fiber, or antioxidants…
But because joy counts. Mental health counts. Feeling remembered counts.
This calendar made me feel celebrated — and that’s worth its weight in shea-based chocolate.

💬 T = Tell Others + Tips

If you or someone you love has food allergies, this is a sweet and thoughtful gift — even if it arrives after December 1st. There is no expiration date on a little daily chocolate joy.

💡 Nutrition Tip: When enjoying holiday sweets, pair them with a balanced meal or snack that includes protein or fiber. This can help stabilize blood sugar and support energy throughout the day. Think: fruit + nuts, or a protein-forward breakfast before your chocolate countdown.
