🍗 Costco Rotisserie Chicken HEART Exam: My Protein-Packed Review

🩺 H = Health

Costco’s rotisserie chicken is a protein powerhouse—essential for strong muscles, hormone balance, and my “aging gracefully” plan. Bonus points: Vitamin B-12, phosphorus, zinc, and riboflavin, all helping my nervous system, skin, and brain stay on track (because let’s be honest, I already lose my train of thought often enough).

Compared to steak, it’s lower in fat, and for me personally, it’s been both celiac and eosinophilic esophagitis–friendly for years.

The bag says gluten-free (though it’s made in a non–GF facility), and while it doesn’t say dairy-free, the ingredient list checks out for me. Always read labels, friends.

😋 E = Eating

Flavor? Consistently delicious—juicy, tender, perfectly cooked. The skin is a treat: a mix of healthy fats (mono- + polyunsaturated) with a touch of saturated fat, so I try to keep my portions in check. My taste buds beg for more, but moderation matters!

👩‍⚕️ Want to learn more? The USDA.gov site has plenty on chicken’s nutrition.

My process: gloves on ✋, cookie sheet ready, white/dark meat sorted, bones saved for Instant Pot bone broth. Pro tip: let the chicken rest an hour so it’s cool enough to break down without burning your fingers. And yes, gloves save me from chicken-under-the-nails trauma.

🛒 A = Accessibility

For $4.99, it’s basically a miracle cure for my grocery budget. In my house, that bird stretches into 2-3 meals: chicken + noodles, stir-fry, tacos, pesto chicken, and more.

I even make broth with the bones = double nutrition win 🥣. Need inspiration? Check out Allergy Awesomeness’s GF/DF chicken recipes.

❤️ R = Rhythm Rating

Tachycardic! 💓 My kitchen heart races every time I grab one fresh off the rotisserie. I buy one (or two!) almost every Costco run. I shred, bag, freeze, and rescue dinner on busy nights. Microwave reheats are fine (though I avoid microwaving plastic for health caution).

📣 T = Tell Others

Oh, I definitely tell people. My mom, my sisters, even my mom’s Costco runs in Indianapolis keep this chicken in the family fan club. It’s officially a household tradition.

Verdict: Costco’s rotisserie chicken passes my HEART Exam with flying colors—and a few drumsticks. 🍗
