O’Dough’s Bagel Thins
Health
Time for a checkup! Here, I’ll diagnose whether this food keeps my body in tip-top shape or if it’s more of a sugar rush than a wellness boost. Sugar CAN increase my dopamine so maybe this food will get a high rating because of my mental health. Will it get a clean bill of health, or is it just here for a quick pulse of fun?
Eating
Let’s scrub in for the taste test! Is this snack a spoonful of sugar, or does it need some flavor resuscitation? I’ll share whether I eat it straight out of the package or jazz it up with a culinary procedure. And, of course, I’ll give you the pulse on my family’s verdict—is it met with applause or polite bedside manner?
Accessibility
Stat! Can I find this food in the wild aisles of my local grocery, or is it a rare specimen only found online? Are the costs stable, or will it send my wallet into cardiac arrest? I’ll give you the prognosis on availability and price.
Tell Others
Paging all foodies! Would I shout about this snack from the hospital rooftops, or keep it confidential like provider–patient privilege? If it’s TikTok worthy, you’ll be the first to know!
Rhythm Rating
Here’s where I take the food’s vital signs! Flatline means the food has no heartbeat in my kitchen (sorry, not making a comeback). Bradycardic? It’s got a slow beat—okay in a pinch, but I won’t monitor it closely. Sinus rhythm? That’s a healthy, steady favorite—if I see it, I’ll pick it up! And Tachycardic? This food makes my heart race—I keep it stocked like life-saving epinephrine.
🩺 How I Review Foods with the HEART Exam
As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (but not your Nurse Practitioner), I give foods a checkup using my HEART method—because if it’s going in my belly, it’s getting a medical-style workup first.
Disclaimer: I buy my own foods, and these are just my personal snack opinions. Not medical advice—always read your labels and talk to your own healthcare provider if you’ve got concerns.
Today’s “patient”: O’Doughs Thins Vegan Bagel
(AKA: The bagel that made me do a little kitchen happy dance.)
H = Health
Certified gluten free and vegan. For two bagel thins: 200 calories, 4g fiber, 4g protein, plus a smidge of calcium and iron. Light on guilt, heavy on joy.
E = Eating
SO. SOFT. I didn’t even toast mine—just thawed from the freezer, microwaved for under a minute, and stuffed with chicken for the most satisfying sandwich. The label says “best toasted,” but my taste buds said “this is fine.” My husband liked his too, though he insists it should be toasted next time (he’s a little bit of a food snob).

So far, I’ve only spotted these at Mariano’s. Price was $4.99 for six thins—not bad, especially compared to $9 gluten/dairy free bagels I’ve seen. Granted, these are thin, not full-size bagels, so that helps keep the price down.
R = Rhythm Rating
A sinus rhythm—solid, dependable, and likely to make future appearances in my freezer.

My mom would love these—though she’d probably toast hers and slather on cream cheese. I’ve got some vegan cream cheese waiting in my fridge, so that’s happening soon. 😊It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
